Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)

Family: Asteraceae

Cornflower, also called bachelor's button, has been a popular annual garden plant for centuries. It is easy to grow, remaining in flower for several months with little care. Native to Europe, Centaurea cyanus has escaped from cultivation in temperate regions worldwide. The most commonly cultivated forms are deep blue, but cultivars with pink or purple flowers also exist.
