Clivia miniata is a South African species that is grown throughout the world as an ornamental perennial. It grows outdoors in subtropical to tropical climates with little care. In temperate regions it is an excellent houseplant for a sunny windowsill. It blooms in the springtime, producing clusters of showy orange or yellow flowers.
