Coreopsis is a genus of bright-flowered annuals and perennials that are native to North America. Coreopsis tinctoria, an attractive annual with yellow and rust-colored flowers, is a common wildflower in the Great Plains of the United States and is a common ornamental for low maintenance gardens. Two other species, Coreopsis grandiflora and Coreopsis verticillara are common in cultivation. Several cultivars of these species have been selected with larger flowers, double flowers, or variations in flower color.

Cultivation: Medium-sized annual or perennial for USDA hardiness zones 4 to 10. Grows best in partial to full sun with low to moderate moisture.

Size: Reaches 9" to 3' (23 cm to 90 cm) tall with a spread of 9" to 3' (23 cm to 90 cm).

Flowering: Blooms from mid-summer through mid-fall.
