Firecracker flower (Crossandra infundibuliformis)

Family: Acanthaceae

The firecracker flower is a cheerful, free-flowering shrub for subtropical and tropical climates. It is an important and widely popular ornamental in its native India and Sri Lanka. Elsewhere it is a colorful bedding plant, small landscape shrub, or indoor potted plant. The seeds are small and can fly several meters when the seed capsules pop open. For this reason it can be difficult to control Crossandra in the landscape.
