Papyrus (Cyperus papyrus)

Family: Cyperaceae

Papyrus is an African wetland plant that has been cultivated throughout recorded history. Most famously, it was the source of paper for ancient Egyptians. Its stems have a remarkable buoyancy and have been used for constructing boats. Today papyrus is grown as an ornamental plant, popular in water gardens everywhere.
