Crown of thorns (Euphorbia milii)

Family: Euphorbiaceae

Euphorbia milii is a favorite flowering shrub for warm climate gardens or indoor containers. An extremely durable plant, it loses its leaves under severe drought conditions but recovers quickly. The natural species and the most widely cultivated forms have small red flowering bracts, but a wide range of other cultivars exists. Recently developed hybrids from Thailand have a rainbow of colors, including multi-colored forms, on bracts that are much larger and more showy.
