Lisianthus (Eustoma exaltatum ssp. russellianum)
Family: Gentianaceae
This species is most widely known as Lisianthus, both in the nursery industry and in the cut flower trade. It belongs to the genus Eustoma, which is native to the United States and Mexico. Many cultivars have been selected with large flowers, in shades of white, pink, and purple. The flowers are excellent for cutting and are important in the floriculture industry. For home gardeners Eustoma is best grown as an annual, but it can be a short-lived perennial in the subtropics and tropics.
