Coral bells (Heuchera)

Family: Saxifragaceae

Coral bells are popular flowering perennials for temperate gardens. There are many species, all native to North America, and a wide variety of hybrids and cultivars. They flower in the spring and early summer, producing bell-shaped flowers in a variety of colors. The leaves are also ornamental, often with interesting patterns of variegation. Most Heucheras are easy to grow in rich soil and light shade, but some grow best in rock gardens with greater exposure to sun.
