Blazing star (Liatris spicata)

Blazing star is a popular source of cut flowers, both in commercial production and in backyard gardens. It is spectacular in the landscape, where its tall spikes of flowers are produced from midsummer through fall. Native to the eastern United States, Liatris spicata is now grown in temperate gardens worldwide. Several cultivars have been formed, with purple, pink, or white flowers.
