Statice (Limonium sinuatum)

Family: Plumbaginaceae

Statice, also called sea lavender, is an old-fashioned ornamental plant that remains popular in gardens worldwide. It is native to the Mediterranean region and has been cultivated in Europe for centuries. Today there are many cultivars available with a wide array of colors. The calyx is the colorful part of the flower, and the color is retained long after the flowering stalk has dried. For this reason, statice is used for long-lasting fresh and dried flower arrangements.
