Flowering tobacco (Nicotiana alata)

Family: Solanaceae

Flowering tobacco is a durable, easy annual for the ornamental garden. This species is known for its scented flowers, but the strength of the fragrance varies among the many different cultivars. Althought the natural species has white flowers, cultivars with pink, purple, or red flowers are popular. Like the tobacco of commerce, Nicotiana alata is highly toxic, and all parts are poisonous.
