Yellow pond lily (Nuphar)

Family: Nymphaeaceae

The yellow pond lily, also called spatterdock or cow lily, is native to lakes, ponds, and streams of the northern hemisphere. It is widely cultivated as an easy and cold-hardy pond plant. Its yellow flowers are attractive, but they are not as showy as the blossoms of other waterlilies. Nuphar spreads rapidly once established, and is classified as invasive in some parts of the world where they are not native.
