Florist's cineraria (Pericallis x hybrida)

Florist's cineraria is a hybrid between two species of Pericallis that occur naturally in the Canary Islands. It is known for its profusion of vibrantly-colored flowers. Grown in gardens and glasshouses for over 200 years, several cultivars have been selected with a range of flower colors. They are popular in the floriculture industry as short-lived potted plants. Pericallis x hybrida grows best with nearly constant temperatures and suffers in extreme heat or cold.

Cultivation: Small annual for USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9. Grows best in partial sun with moderate moisture. May be grown as a perennial in zones 9 to 11.

Flowering: Blooms from early spring through early summer.
