Palmetto (Sabal palmetto)

Family: Arecaceae

This palm is native to the southeastern United States and the Caribbean islands. It is one of the most commonly cultivated palms for the subtropics, where it can withstand freezing temperatures for short periods of time. It grows slowly, but mature palms can be transplanted into landscapes for an instant tropical effect.
