Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi)

Family: Cactaceae

Schlumbergeras are epiphytes, growing naturally in the tops of tall forest trees in Brazil. The Christmas cactus is an artificial hybrid of two species, Schlumbergera russelliana and S. truncata. Many color forms have been developed since the hybrid was first created in the 19th century. They are popular indoor plants that grow well under difficult conditions, producing spectacular seasonal displays of color.
