Peace lily (Spathiphyllum)

Family: Araceae

The peace lily is among the world's most popular indoor potted plants. It is easy to grow under difficult conditions including low light and irregular watering. Peace lilies are also popular shade plants for subtropical and tropical gardens. Indoors or outdoors, they flower throughout the year if adequate moisture is available. There are many species of Spathiphyllum distributed through the tropics worldwide, and a handful have been brought into cultivation and bred to produce a large number of cultivars. These vary in the size and shape of the leaves and flowering stalk.
