Lamb's ears (Stachys byzantina)

Family: Lamiaceae

Native to the Middle East, this species is now found naturalized in many parts of the world. It is a popular ornamental perennial, grown for its woolly foliage. Several cultivars are available, including some sterile forms that do not produce unsightly flowering stalks. It forms large mats by spreading underground and is invasive in many locations. It is difficult to control or remove from the landscape once established.
