Painted daisy (Tanacetum coccineum)

Family: Asteraceae

Native to eastern Europe and the Middle East, painted daisies have been cultivated since ancient times. They are grown for their flowers and for the pyrethrins they produce. The flowers are valuable in the cut-flower trade, while pyrethrins and their derivatives are among the most safe and effective chemical insecticides. In the home garden painted daisies are easy to grow. Many cultivars are available with flower colors that range from light pink to scarlet.
