Rain lily (Zephyranthes)
Family: Amaryllidaceae
There are about 70 species of Zephyranthes, all native to the Americas. A few are widely cultivated and have become naturalized throughout the world, particularly in the tropics. Rain lilies are attractive, easy to grow, and sometimes fragrant. They bloom through the summer and fall, but flowering may be enhanced by wet weather. Zephyranthes species have white, yellow, or pink flowers in various shades. This diversity has been enhanced through the development of many horticultural hybrids and cultivars.
